Open Access policy for journals
The Open Access publication service Hamburg University Press, provided by the Hamburg State and University Library, supports open access in accordance with its Open Access Policy and its Guidelines on Licensing.
All hosted journals are Open Access journals for first scientific publications that undergo peer review and formal quality assurance. All are provided as Diamond Open Access journals, not charging neither article processing charges (APC) nor article submission charges. The articles are also published according to Gold Open Access.
Licensing
All articles in the journals hosted by Hamburg University Press are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) or Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 - ShareAlike International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license. This license allows third parties to copy, redistribute, remix, transform and combine publications with other works, even commercially, as long as appropriate credit to the licensor is given. The CC-BY license thus significantly promotes the visibility and reach of publications and enables legally compliant and free reuse, even in combination with other CC-licensed works. With the CC-BY-SA license, redistribution is only possible under the same license terms.
Copyright
The authors of all articles grant the publication service non-exclusvie rights of use that are required for the agreed publication. This primarily includes the right of first publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license or the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 - ShareAlike International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.
Self-archiving
Authors may deposit their articles in all versions of the publication process in an institutional or disciplinary repository as well as on their personal or institutional websites. This includes preprints, manuscripts accepted for publication (Author's Accepted Manuscript/postprint) and published articles (publisher's version).
After successful publication, authorsis asked to link from the deposited article version to the published article on the journal's website using the digital object identifier (DOI) of the original publication.
By self-archiving their publications, authors actively support and promote open access and the dissemination of their research.
