offered by the Hamburg State and University Library
The Open Access publication service Hamburg University Press, provided by the Hamburg State and University Library, supports open access in accordance with its Open Access Policy and its Guidelines on Licensing.
All books published by Hamburg University Press appear simultaneously and with identical pagination as a high-quality print version and as a freely accessible and reusable digital version (Gold Open Access). The publications undergo formal quality assurance. Publication fees (book processing charges - BPCs) are charged.
All books are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) or Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 - Share Alike International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license. The CC-BY license allows third parties to copy, redistribute, remix, transform and combine publications with other works, even commercially, as long as appropriate credit to the licensor is given. The CC-BY license thus significantly promotes the visibility and reach of publications and enables legally compliant and free reuse, even in combination with other CC-licensed works. With the CC-BY-SA license, redistribution is only possible under the same license terms.
In addition, authors grant the rights to share publication-related metadata and abstract under the CreativeCommons Zero (CC0 1.0 Universal) license. By doing so, the authors dedicate the metadata to the public domain. This means that the data can be copied, modified, distributed and performed, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission. By making metadata available for unrestricted re-use, the authors support the visibility of their publication.
The authors grant the publication service non-exclusive rights of use that are required for the agreed publication. This primarily includes the right of first publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license or the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 - ShareAlike International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.
It is the responsibility of the authors to obtain all necessary copyright authorisations for the use of third-party materials in their publications.
Authors may deposit their work in all versions of the publication process in an institutional or disciplinary repository as well as on their personal or institutional websites. This includes preprints, manuscripts accepted for publication (author's accepted manuscript/postprint) and published contributions or longform publications (publisher's version).
After successful publication, authors are asked to link from the deposited version to the published work on the publication service website using the digital object identifier (DOI) of the original publication.
By self-archiving their publications, authors actively support and promote open access and the dissemination of their research.
